Robbie Miles

Robbie Miles has had a lifelong interest in art and drawing. As a child, she enjoyed drawing, coloring and painting. In 1981, Robbie traveled to Taiwan with her husband, Curtis. Robbie learned the art of oriental brush painting or Sumi-e, from General Chen in Kaohsiung. She progressed rapidly in her studies of horses, birds, flowers, animals and landscapes. She continues to study with brush painting artists here in the U.S. because every artist has a new viewpoint and an intriguing technique. Robbie teaches classes in oriental brush painting at Hillsborough Community College. She conducts demonstrations and workshops for art groups in Central Florida, so that others can discover the freedom, creativity and connection to nature that is the essence of oriental brush painting. Robbie was an exhibitor at the 2003 Gasparilla Festival of the Arts as well as the 40th and 42nd Annual Juried Exhibition of the Sumi-e Society of America. She is a frequent exhibitor with the Sarasota chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America. Robbie is also a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Tampa branch.
